Prep Time: 5-7 minutes.

Difficulty Level: Easy

Serve: 2

INGREDIENTS

For the Coffee Foam

·       2 tablespoons instant coffee granules (not ground coffee beans)

·       2 tablespoons granulated sugar

·       2 tablespoons hot water

• For the Drink

·       1.5 - 2 cups (360-480ml) cold milk (dairy or plant-based like almond, oat, or soy)

·       Ice cubes

Tools & Equipment

·       Medium mixing bowl

·       Hand mixer (electric) or whisk

·       Measuring spoons

·       2 serving glasses (tall glasses work best)

·       Spoon or spatula.

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1.

Prepare the Coffee Foam: In a medium mixing bowl, mix the instant coffee granules, granulated sugar, and hot water.

Step 2.

Whip the Mixture: Using a hand mixer (recommended for ease and speed), whip the coffee mixture at high speed. If you use a whisk, be ready for a good workout! Keep whipping until the mixture is thick, light, and fluffy, resembling stiff peaks similar to meringue or whipped cream. This takes about 3-5 minutes with a hand mixer or 10-15 minutes with a whisk. The color will lighten significantly.

Step 3.

Prepare Glasses: Fill your two serving glasses about three-quarters full of ice cubes. Pour the cold milk over the ice.

Step 4.

Assemble the Drinks: Generously spoon the whipped Dalgona coffee foam over the milk in each glass.

Step 5.

Serve: Serve immediately. To enjoy, stir the coffee foam into the milk before drinking.

Tips and Variances

Electric Mixer is Your Friend: Using an electric hand mixer makes the process much quicker and ensures consistent fluffiness.

Instant Coffee Only: Regular ground coffee won’t work for this recipe, as it won’t dissolve and whip up correctly. Be sure to use instant coffee granules.

Sweetness Adjustment: You can adjust the sugar in the foam to your taste. Use less if you want it to be less sweet, but some sugar is necessary to help the foam whip up.

Hot Water Temperature: Make sure the water is hot (just boiled) to dissolve the coffee and sugar effectively, which helps in the whipping process.

Iced or Hot: While it is usually served over cold milk with ice, you can also spoon the Dalgona foam over hot milk for a warm treat.

Flavor Variations for Foam:

o   Chocolate Dalgona: Add a teaspoon of cocoa powder to the coffee mixture before whipping.

o   Matcha Dalgona: Replace instant coffee with matcha powder for a vibrant green, earthy foam (note that this may require slightly different amounts of liquid and sugar to achieve the same texture).

o   Espresso Dalgona (Advanced): Use a very concentrated shot of espresso instead of instant coffee and hot water, but this may be trickier to achieve the same stiff consistency.

Toppings: Sprinkle with a pinch of cocoa powder, cinnamon, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup for extra flair.

FAQs

1Q- Why isn’t my Dalgona coffee whipping up?

A: The most common reasons are:

o   Not using instant coffee: Ground coffee will not whip.

o   Not enough sugar: Sugar helps stabilize the foam.

o   Not enough hot water: Hot water helps dissolve the ingredients.

o   Not whipping long enough: Keep going! It takes time, especially with a hand whisk.

2Q- Can I store the whipped Dalgona coffee foam?

A: Yes, you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. It might lose some stiffness, but it will still be tasty. Give it a quick stir before spooning onto milk.

3Q- What kind of milk is best for Dalgona coffee?

A: Any kind of milk works well! Dairy milk offers a classic creamy taste. Oat milk is a popular vegan choice for its creaminess, while almond or soy milk are great options for a plant-based version.

4Q- Can I make decaf Dalgona coffee?

A: Absolutely! Just use decaf instant coffee granules instead of regular instant coffee. The process and results will be the same.
